Invest in Amazon, Netflix & Inovio Pharmaceuticals, or stuff your pockets with your cash and run for the hills?
With the massive reduction in the value of shares, many analysts look back at a very well used reference point: the time for the value of the markets to recover from the loses of the 1929 crash, this date being 1954 which is 25 years, but if you dig deeper many companies recovered in a much shorter time. Dow Chemical stock value returned from its pre 1929 crash price in 1933, this is 4 years, 3M were back within 6 years. So this benchmark did not apply to all stocks. The 2008 crash took about 6 years to recover.
Past performance shows you what happened in the past. With coronavirus covid 19, which will be firmly put away within a year the markets have dropped, no one knows if it has reached the bottom. Netflix & Amazon are stable as they are in areas of business where they are in demand as we are watching more tv at home and buying more from the safety of our confinement. These appear to be a stable place to invest.
I have invested in Inovio Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:INO), a biotech company:
Inovio is in the process to bring a vaccine for COVID-19 to our rescue . The company has claimed that it created a vaccine for the rapidly spreading disease in a mere three hours after the genetic sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease was made public by Chinese researchers on the same day, IInovio is now accelerating the timeline for the development process, and that it intended to start human clinical trials in April. Then on March 12, Inovio disclosed it received a $5 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to accelerate the testing and scale-up of Cellectra 3PSP. This all looks positive news.
So what to do? Netflix & Amazon appear to be a safe haven, I also have great faith in the future and I have invested in Inovio Pharmaceuticals. But the choice is entirety yours. You could stuff your pockets with your cash and run for the hills and reappear in a years time?
